My friend Ben Furman invited me to Helsinki to run a 2 day workshop in Helsinki, and while I was there, I visited Helsinki Cathedral with Riitta Malkamäki and Jussi Saarnio where there was an exhibition commemorating Martin Luther and his influence 500 years previously.
Religion aside, the building is dramatic in it's scale and simple spaciousness, and Martin Luther was an important part of history of the Reformation.
The Reformation led to the writing of solas [from Latin "sola" alone], 5 in total, and the 3 solas that impressed me are Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone"), Sola fide ("by faith alone") and Sola gratia ("by grace alone") in protest to the authority and practices of the church of the day, restoring authority to each individual.
For me, these solas are timely for therapy.
It's time we separated ourselves from the restrictive authority of any external dogma - DSM, the medical model, etc. and reclaimed the authority for individual clients who can have their own unique script.
It's time to restore faith in and within each human being.
It's time to reconnect with grace - the gift of healing.

I love this Rob! What an apt parallel this is. Thank you!
