A primary school principal was on stress leave which was about to expire. He was beginning to panic because the school year was due to begin, and if he retired before that he would loose all of his accumulated superannuation.
The thought of returning, even for a day, felt like jumping into a fire that he had only begun to heal from. Should he return, put up with the agony, and access his superannuation, of should he cut and run.
After some serious reflection, he realised that “You can’t take it with you” and decided that his life and peace of mind was more important than the money.
He was relieved, and had no regrets.
