My first book, Healing with Words, resulted from an unexpected invitation from a publisher after she read an article about my work in a Melbourne newspaper. Maturana read it and said “It’s a wonderful little book”.
My second book, Healing the Whole Person, grew out of collating a series of articles I wrote for an Australian medical journal. Bill O’hanlon encouraged me to have it published and introduced me to his editor who worked for the prestigious Wiley & Sons. When it went out of print, I was approached by Innovative Resources who wanted to republish it, now entitled “Doing Change”
I had collected a series of papers I had presented at conferences over the years, and another Australian publisher, Tandava Press was keen to publish them as a my third book, “Creating Connections in Ericksonian Approaches to hypnosis and therapy”.
I wrote a series of short posts and collated them into an eBook, “An easy guide to easy hypnosis”, and Tandava press want to publish an expanded version of this, provisionally titled “Humanising Hypnosis”.
Should I feel bad that these have all happened so effortlessly when others speak of struggles?
I’m hoping to get away with this by hiding behind Oscar Wilde’s “If you persist in telling the truth, then sooner out later you are sure to be found out”.
