Instead of focusing on yourself, your skills and limitations, see what happens if you focus on each client, their individuality, strengths and needs - to shift from a therapist focused trance to a client focused trance.
Any time you find yourself thinking about yourself, any physical discomfort, your abilities, confidence in yourself, fears, theories, judgement about the client … anything related to you … see what happens if you focus on the client’s face, breathing, their resourcefulness, confidence in the client, their fears, theories, judgements about themselves …
What did you notice as a result of this? How did you make the shift of focus? If you wanted to do more of this, how might you do it, remind yourself?
Yours in being hypnotic,
Rob
Hello Rob,
Thanks for such a simple but profound way of working. I experienced an easier exchange with my clients as well as a renewed sense of creativity in my work. I sometimes think, "If it’s easy it may not be legitimate ". This has been an eye opener for me. Thanks again.
